I used to sing songs about Jesus
How I was a hard-core believer
Until I dealt with my traumas
Yes some of them I got from my teachings
I’m still fond of my humble believing
I ask a question from my teachers
But then I realize that even they had been
Deceived or maybe left outside to bloom
Just picked a side of the fence
To rightly divide their roots
Who knows what we supposed to do
Who knows
Who knows what we supposed to do
Who knows
Too old to play the fool
To real I seek the truth
They steal what they consume
Without no room to pay their dues
Then they kill and leave the ruins
Blood in your hands
Use consume
You working a job
It took 2 years to buy
The device that you use
It’s cracked
Now it’s buy one for two
They get paid from you
Get it for Pennies
Then take a life or two
Who knows what we supposed to do
Who knows
Who knows what we supposed to do
Who knows
When I asked questions
Just repeated answers
Circles around the truth
Because ultimately
We don’t know we
Think we do
The disappointment
When you’re anointed be coming through
God still touching my hands
Cause it’s higher than me and you
I keep pushing like I’m Lupe
This the stuff that I
Only use to see in cartoons
Who knows what we supposed to do
Who knows
Who knows what we supposed to do
Who knows
They told me it would be a task to pull through
But I’m lost like vegans
That only consume french fries and tofu
What am I supposed to believe
Deities I called them too
And they come on through
It’s power in the way I do what I do
If it’s too religious I won’t pursue
Made me feel like we playing madden 92
Fluid with the truth that I hold to
Who knows what we supposed to do
Who knows
Who knows what we supposed to do
Who knows
Concrete Roots is a song (composed, mixed and performed by me) written to express my adult perspective of religion, the children and familes being overworked, underpaid and murdered in Africa for cobalt allowing us to have iphones, electric cars and such.
Concrete roots is my expression of the chaos in the world, the lies, the deceit and the innocent who fall victim of it. I hope this leaves you with things to thing about, journal and help promote change.
I love you!
